Revolt She Said, Weaver’s World, Industry of the Ordinary Summer Residency 2025 Exhibition

Two performances, directed by dado; IOTO special event

Dear Friends,

We are excited to share that The Feast Theater Collective is inhabiting the gallery for two weeks in August. They are rehearsing and performing the reading of a play by Alice Birch. The production will be directed by beloved Chicago director, dado. There will be two performances, on Aug 7 & 14. Tickets are free; information appears below. All donations go to The Feast.

We also are hosting a Book Launch Reception and Artist Talk by wonderful artist Kathy Weaver on Sunday, Aug 24 from 2-4.

And our next show is the Industry of the Ordinary Summer Residency Exhibition 2025, with a special event on Sat., Sept 6 from 5-8 pm. Participants in IOTO’s summer residency program will perform their work that evening. The work then will be on view until Sept 27. The artists will have items for sale during the duration of the show, and there will be an Artist Walkthrough on Sat., Sept 13 from 5-7 pm

We are also pleased to announce representation of Chicago-based artist Jack Poker.

REVOLT. SHE SAID. REVOLT AGAIN. examines the all-encompassing violence that pervades women’s lives. Through a series of vignettes—each framed as its own revolution—Alice Birch explores resistance as something instinctual, unpredictable, exciting and disobedient.

The Feast invites you to this semi-staged, immersive reading where we use performance as research to investigate Birch's explosive text and - as Birch demands, revolt again.

Book Launch with Kathy Weaver

Join us on Sunday, Aug 24 for a book signing and artist talk with Kathy Weaver. The talk will be moderated by Molly O’Donnell, and examples of Kathy’s work will be on view at the gallery. This is a launch event for her recently published book, Weaver’s World: Kathy Weaver, Selected Works, 1979-2024. The book includes essays by renowned folks in the arts. The reception and artist talk will be from 2-4 pm.

SoNa Gallery Annex - pausing in September for IOTO event

The Annex is open now but will be pausing in September for the take-over of the Gallery Annex by Industry of the Ordinary. Come check out the work in the gallery from now through August, and then come back in October to see new work there. The Annex features work of gallery artists. Recently added are selected works by Jack Poker. See also works by Pinar Aral, Kermit Berg, Sharon Bladholm, Monica J. Brown, Mirentxu Ganzarain Alan Emerson Hicks, Loralyn Kumlin, Laleh Motlagh, Tom Robinson, Nicholas Sistler, and Paul Somers.
