Tom Robinson and Loralyn Kumlin —Creative Emergence from the Pandemic: Paintings, Miniatures, Wood Mosaics, and Imagery Boxes

Hello Friends,

The second exhibition at SoNa Chicago features Tom Robinson and Loralyn Kumlin. We are having a mid-show Reception this Friday, September 8 from 5-8 pm. Refreshments will be served! The show will run through October 14. The gallery is located at 1527 N. Ashland Avenue in Chicago.

The exhibition tells the story of how Tom and Loralyn renovated a huge abandoned dollhouse during the early months of the pandemic lockdown. This effort inspired them to create structures of their own that feature miniatures of their original artwork. Their original full-scale artwork, the miniatures, and the magnificent dollhouse are on view now at the gallery.

We also wanted to take this opportunity to share that we have beautiful jewelry in the gallery by artists Melle Finelli and Christy Klug. It is not too early to think about holiday presents! Come select the perfect gifts for your family and friends. We will have special items at holiday time by gallery artists and other artists during the holiday season. So please do stop by. We also have launched our new online shopping portal on the website. You can find Melle and Christy’s jewelry as well as artwork by all the SoNa Chicago artists there.

Loralyn Kumlin’s Artwork

Image: “Four Lil Girls” honors the four young girls killed in the bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama on September 15, 1963. The act was committed by white supremacists 60 years ago this month. Read more about it and see the paintings and the companion imagery box honoring the girls and this seminal event in U.S. history.
