SoNa Chicago’s current exhibition “Of Earth and Spirit” featuring Sharon Bladholm and Monica J. Brown has two special events for its closing weekend. A Poetry Reading by Monica J. Brown on Jan 12, and a Closing Reception for both artists on Jan 13.

Also, the Chicago Reader’s “Best of 2023” poll is open through Jan 14. Voting is underway. We’d love to have your vote! Details in the block below.

Poetry Reading & Reception - Monica J. Brown - Fri., Jan 12, 6:00 - 7:00 pm

Monica J. Brown is an interdisciplinary artist who combines art, theater, dance, poetry, and other modes of artistic expression. She will present a reading of her original poetry The reading will include poems about love, memory and the abstraction of time, including the liminal spaces that exist in and around these ideas.. A reception will follow. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Please let us know if you will attend at this link to help us with planning. However, you do not need to RSVP to attend.

Next Exhibition: Jill Kolker and Tita Recometa-Brady; Opening Reception Friday, Feb 2, 5-8 p.m.

Jill Kolker and Tita Recometa-Brady are artists who have their own unique style but whose work for this show involves our place in the environment. Tita is moved by the impact of urbanization on pristine landscapes. Jill is inspired by scenes of city life, children playing, and the patterns and colors that evoke urban cityscapes. Our next exhibition “Landscapes / Cityscapes” will launch with an opening reception on Friday, February 2 from 5-8 p.m. The exhibition will run through Sat., March 16.
