SoNa Chicago invites artists to submit applications for a Group Show - Submissions Due Sept 20

We are pleased to announce a call for artists for our upcoming exhibition titled "Lightness and Being."

Artists of all backgrounds and mediums are invited to participate in this call for art. Artists should reside within the Chicagoland area. The theme is open to interpretation by each artist.  New or previously created works are welcome.

We hope to show a wide range of media, ideas and perspectives related to the theme.

The exhibit will open on Friday, November 8, 2024 and run through Saturday, January 11, 2025.  An opening reception will be held Friday, Nov. 8, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM.

Submission Guidelines:

Artists may submit one or two artworks for consideration.

All works must be a maximum external dimension (including frame) of 20” x 20”.  Three-dimensional works are limited to 20” H,W, D.

We encourage submissions at various price ranges. Our aim is have work in this show that is affordable to a wide audience. The maximum retail price of artwork for this show will be $1500.

All submissions must be accompanied by: 1) one or more images of the artwork in high resolution jpeg format, 2) an artist statement reflecting the significance of the artwork work in relation to the theme of “Lightness and Being” in docx format, and 3) the artist’s resume in .docx or pdf format.

Each image submitted should be labeled with title, medium, and dimensions.  

In the text of the email submission, include your full name as you would like it on the wall label, the title, medium, dimensions and retail price of the artwork.

An entry fee of $20 is due for each submission. $20 for one or two submissions (not $40).

Artists will be notified by October 1, 2024 if their work has been accepted for the show. A consignment record form will be sent along with the acceptance for the artist’s review. If accepted:

All works must be delivered on Oct 21-23 between 12:00 - 5:00 PM.

The consignment record is to be completed and signed by the artist and emailed (preferred) or dropped off with the work.

All work must be ready to hang, including wire across framed pieces. 

Any specific hanging instructions must be printed and included with artwork on delivery.
