Jack Poker’s “Beneath an Economy of Sky” opens Friday

Opening Reception, 6-9 pm on Friday

Greetings Friends,

We are excited to debut the solo show by Jack Poker, a Chicago artist who came to our attention as we were planning a group collage show with Tony Fitzpatrick. Tony recommended Jack, and when we saw Jack’s work we immediately offered him a solo show. The Jack Poker exhibition will be February 20 - March 21, 2026; the Opening Reception is this Friday, Feb 20, from 6-9 pm.

We will have an artist talk with Jack on Sunday, March 1 from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.

There also will be a special pop-up art and discussion event on Sunday, March 15 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. related to immigrant justice and the parallels between what is happening today and what happened in 1940’s Europe. See more below.

Jack Poker Solo Show, “An Economy of Sky”

Jack is a Chicago-based artist whose paintings and sculptures examine the interaction between time and space as they relate to memory and how these connections are tied to the history of communities and individuals. His current series of paintings depicts what happens to city blocks, suburban neighborhoods, and commercial sites during periods of transformation, specifically when those changes involve abandoned or demolished buildings.

The show opens this Friday, February 20, with an opening reception from 6-9 pm on Friday.

Material Witness

Material Witness is a special event featuring artist Nancy Marks who presents work born from her experience as the daughter of a Holocaust survivor. She delves into her mother’s harrowing girlhood in Nazi-occupied France and confronts the chilling parallels between her ordeal in the 1940s and the realities faced by immigrants today.

The exhibition features haunting artwork by Nancy along side quotes from her mother’s memoir, and quotes from immigrants today. Nancy facilitates conversations focused on connecting the exhibition's content to current social issues and local events.

The work amplifies aspects of Jack Poker’s work which includes works about what is left behind in buildings and on plots of land as people are removed from their homes and communities.

Special Exhibition Honoring Tony Fitzpatrick

We are pleased to host a group collage show called “Pieces Too Short to Save: A Survey of Contemporary Collage,” April 8 - May 30, 2026. We were working with Tony on this show before he passed away on Oct 11 last year. Tony selected most of the artists and approved all the others, and he gave us the name for the show. We will have works by Tony Fitzpatrick for sale in the show thanks to the gracious participation of Tony’s family. The show will include: Lisa Barcy, Lou Beach, Monica J. Brown, Andrea Burgay, Tony Fitzpatrick, Glen Gauthier, Paul Longhney, Jack Poker, Nellie Seigel, and Paloma Trecka.
