Porta Maggiore is a three-part film project that explores a community of resident activists within the built and natural environments of the Pigneto–Prenestino neighborhood in eastern Rome, as they defend local cultural, political, and ecological issues.

Marco G. Ferrari is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Chicago, Illinois and Rome, Italy. He received his M.F.A. from the University of Chicago in 2013 and has exhibited works internationally including China, India, Europe and the United States. He is currently Assistant Professor of Cinematography in the School of Theatre, Dance & Film at Illinois State University and is the creative director of the Virginio and Marisa Ferrari Arts Foundation.
