Nicholas Sistler

Nicholas Sistler received a BFA degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1980 and his works have appeared in more than 160 exhibitions, including 30 solo shows. Sistler practiced performance art from 1977 to 1985, receiving critical acclaim both locally in Chicago, and nationally. He has received several grants from the Illinois Arts Council including an Artist’s Fellowship Award, four residencies from the Ragdale Foundation, and an Honorary Fellowship, from the Djerassi Foundation. Sistler’s work has been published as cover illustrations for books and as greeting cards; also as part of A GAME OF CHANCE, a deck of artist designed playing cards to benefit the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization. The Block Museum at Northwestern University published limited editions of a multicolored lithograph and also an etching by Mr. Sistler. Sistler’s art work is in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, National Gallery of Art, Illinois State Museum, Rockford Art Museum, Elmhurst Art Museum, Block Museum at Northwestern University, De Paul University Museum of Art, Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction, Benedictine University, Otterbein University, College of Lake County, Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago as well as numerous private collections coast to coast.
