Tita Recometa-Brady

Tita Racometa-Brady is a Filipino-American citizen, born and educated in the Philippines, where she earned her BFA at the University of Sto. Tomas, Manila. She later earned her MFA at SAIC (School of the Art Institute of Chicago) in 1968. In her college years, she won several Fine Arts awards; one, paved the way to winning her most prestigious award -  Fulbright-Hays Scholarship to study in the USA (1966-68). Providence changed the course of her Art life;  she became busy with a husband of 53 years, two married sons and six grandchildren. As a middle school Art teacher, she was awarded a summer study-grant in China (1994) under the auspices of CBE (Council for Basic Education) and the National Endowment for Humanities. She retired from Art teaching in 2002 and had a brief teaching sessions at Robert Morris University. She then pursued painting full time. She was inducted to Hall of Fame – Visual Art in 2007 by the Philippine-American Community in Chicago. She exhibited in numerous Filipino-American festivals around Chicago, Milwaukee, and at the Consulate and Embassy of the Philippines, Washington, D.C. She continues to exhibit in local galleries and community Art Leagues and garners a few “Best of Show” ribbons. She published and copyrighted an Art-Word Series book in 2019. “IF NOT NOW, WHEN?” is a uniquely-designed 26 letters of the alphabet. Personal messages and quotes from the wisdom of the ages – ancient and contemporary – enrich her illustrations. Both book and original paintings were exhibited at the Chicago Public Library, Budlong Branch (May, 2019). She distributes her books and prints of her Art-Word Series wherever travels - in her native land, South America, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, France, and across America.
